Schooner Virginia

Schooner Virginia

The Schooner Virginia, a 122′ sailing vessel recently visited Chesapeake Boat Works on Fishing Bay for a USCG inspection. While on the railway, the Virginia also had a bottom paint touch up and max prop tuning. Pretty nice, especially since this is the same place I have my Bristol Channel Cutter, Godspeed.

Godspeed and I just spent some quality time together last weekend, while I stripped the varnish off her starboard bulwarks in preparation for painting. I decided a while back that I could no longer keep up with all the varnish work on the boat. So, now that stripping and prepping is complete, I have handed her over to the boatyard guys for painting. I painted the port bulwarks last year but it didn’t come out very well, so for the starboard side, I’ll let the professionals do it to see how it is supposed to look!!
